Each battle is a head-to-head vote between two candidates. The candidate with more votes when the battle closes wins. There is no weighting, no electoral college, no complicated scoring. More votes wins.
Every visitor gets exactly one vote per battle. Your vote is anonymous — no accounts, no email, no tracking. We use a signed session cookie to remember you voted so you can see the results, but we don't know who you are.
When a battle closes, voting freezes and the result is revealed simultaneously to everyone. This prevents last-minute pile-ons and makes every result a shared moment.
Winners advance through a single-elimination bracket. The World Food Cup starts with 8 candidates in quarter-finals, narrows to 4 in semi-finals, and culminates in a final. The last candidate standing is crowned World Champion.
In the unlikely event of a tie, the candidate listed first (candidate A) advances. This is a deliberate, simple rule — no coin flips, no re-votes. Ties are extremely rare with sufficient participation.
We don't build fancy anti-abuse systems. We use basic rate limiting (10 votes per minute per IP), session-based duplicate prevention, and anonymous voting. Coordinated national voting is inevitable — and honestly, kind of the point. It's a food tournament, not an election.
We detect your country from edge network headers (Vercel or Cloudflare). This is used to show which countries are participating and to celebrate global engagement. Country data is approximate and based on your network provider, not your device.
